4.6

Academics

Academics for PhD CSE strong, guides mostly PhDs with experience in networks, ML. Coursework first year, then deep research, seminars. Strict on progress, but flexible if publish papers. Funding for conferences if you ask. Not like IIT but good for NIT, helps build publications. Some profs busy, need to chase them. Overall, pushes you to learn real stuff.

College Infra

VNIT Nagpur infrastructure good for PhD in Computer Engineering. Department has own building with labs full of computers, servers for AI and simulations. Library huge, access to journals and online stuff, WiFi covers most areas. Hostels okay but old, mess food simple. Campus 215 acres green, sports ground helps relax. Some buildings need AC fix, hot in Nagpur. Fine for research work.

Campus Life

Campus life calm for PhD, green space big, tech clubs and seminars keep engaged. Fests like Aarohi fun, but less party than UG. Diverse PhD crowd, easy talk research. Nagpur heat bad summer, but near city for breaks. Seniors guide on funding, late nights in labs common. Balanced, not too wild but good for focus. Liked the vibe.

Placements

Placements for PhD not like BTech, focus on faculty jobs or postdocs. Many get assistant professor roles in colleges, average pay 8-10 LPA start. Postdoc opps under Visvesvaraya scheme, stipend 50k plus. Industry R&D in companies like Infosys if you network. Depends on your thesis, no campus drive really. Better for academia path.

Value For Money

PhD fees low, about 1.7 lakh total for 3 years, plus institute fellowship 31k monthly first two years if GATE qualified. Covers labs, no extra for research. Hostel 50k year, Nagpur cheap living. Great value if you get funded, else self pay okay. Beats private unis, high ROI for career in teaching or research. Worth the effort.

MTech CSE academics solid, teachers mostly PhDs, teach AI, networks. Curriculum updated, projects help skills. Strict attendance, some classes dull. Research good with stipend if CGPA high. Faculty helps if you ask. Not IIT but strong for NIT.

College Infra

VNIT Nagpur has good infrastructure for MTech Computer Engineering. Labs got new computers, library big with journals, WiFi okay. Hostels decent, mess food average. Classrooms need AC, hot in summer. Sports ground nice, campus green. Supports studies well.

Campus Life

Campus life fun, green 215 acres, tech fests like Aarohi, coding clubs active. Diverse crowd, easy to make friends. Sports, gym good, Nagpur heat tough. Near city for outings. Seniors helpful, balanced vibe. Tech talks cool.

Placements

Placements decent, 70 percent MTech CSE get jobs. Average 8 LPA, highest 64 LPA, companies like Qualcomm, Infosys visit. 2025 saw 130/186 placed. Training good, but your skills matter. Recession hit last year, now better. Placement cell works hard.

Ph.D Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2025-01-01
4.2

Academics

Faculty are PhD experts, mostly from IITs, guide well on catalysis aur process design. Research focus strong, with seminars and papers. Coursework tough but fair, NIRF rank 44 shows quality. Some guides busy, feedback thodi late. Great for researchers.

College Infra

VNIT campus is biiiiig, 215 acres with lots of greenery. Chemical labs have advanced reactors for research, library bhi huge with journals and fast wifi. Old buildings need repairs, no AC, summers hot. Hostels clean with gym, but maintenance slow. Good for research.

Campus Life

Campus life fun with fests like Aarohi aur tech events. Clubs for sports, music keep it lively. Green campus by lake, mast for walks. Hostels okay, mess food average, night canteen saves. Strict rules sometimes, but friends feel like family.

Placements

Ph.D placements limited, mostly teaching ya R&D roles. Companies like Reliance, ISRO hire few, average package 8-12 LPA. Many go for postdoc or academia. Placement cell helps with CV, but research zyada focus. Decent for academic path.

Value For Money

Fees only 50-60k yearly, sasta for NIT Ph.D. Top labs, faculty, and research grants. UGC stipends help too. Compared to private unis, it’s a steal for quality. Infra basic but degree ke liye worth it. I feel it’s great value.
